Poems by Judy

The poem below is a acrostic poem about Sunnybrae...

ACROSTIC POEM ‘SENIORS’

So desperate to move on, out of Sunnybrae when we were juniors.
Endless chatting, silenced by the stern words of teachers      that lingered and gave the classroom an eerie silence.
Nearly haunting the handball courts, marking it as their territory.
Irritating (some of us), yet sometimes we still get awards and certificates.
“Oh yes!” We are getting better at using electronic devices from all the ‘practice’ we do at school.
Realising how many more weeks we have here, no one wants to leave...
Sunnybrae has been the best place!

Now the poem below describes a feeling that we have had at Sunnybrae...

Feelings poem

Luck is light green mixed with a happy yellow, joyously lashing against the paint pot.

When you scratch a card and find out that you’ve just won the lotto, you know that luck is upon you.

Luck tastes like rich nectarine ice cream on a drenchingly hot  summer afternoon

Luck sounds like jingling bells of laughter echoing down a candle-lit hallway.

Luck looks like glorious sunshine on a four-leaf-clover.

Luck smells like fresh bread out of the oven.

Luck is knowing that there is a sunny day ahead.

Team Building at Camp - by Jessica

Below is Jessica's piece of writing about her experience of Team Building at camp!

Team building     By Jessica

“ Left, right, left, right!” my team of 4 yelled. We were with Mr Whiting doing team building and our first activity in team building was where we had to get in groups of 4, with boys and girls, then walk across part of the field on the ski mask. We weren't that bad and were in fact better than most of the other people in A3. The time was 6 minutes and 43 seconds, I think.

The next activity was climbing over a high wall where one of the sides was easy. Well, I found that one of the sides were kind of like a built in ladder! I found it easy (I'm not scared of heights) so for the people who were, we cheered for them and they made it.

The hard part was getting back over on the flat side. First we had to choose who was going to lift everyone up. We chose Vinny, Casey and Spencer. I was the first to go up. I know this sounds weird but I thought of it like riding a horse. It is like that because when you hop on a horse you swing one leg over first, then sit on it. So that’s what I did, but if you were one of the people who were not pulling people up from the top (which I was), you would go back over the other side.
Overall I think we are now a better team because of this.

Saturday 17 May 2014

This term we have been thinking about ANZAC and how the soldiers were so brave to even go there. These are some reports our class did about A.N.Z.A.C Day in the holidays.

Fortunately, Unfortunately

We wrote some 'fortunately, unfortunately' poems about an event that happened during the holidays.

Fortunately/Unfortunately         By Anni
I was sick for a few days in the middle of the holidays.

Unfortunately it was at 12:25pm that I was sick first.
Fortunately it was only every half a hour.
Unfortunately it kept me up all the haunted night.
Fortunately it stopped at 8:00am because a monster scared me.
Unfortunately  I was not having  fun being sick.
Fortunately I got red lemonade.
Unfortunately I hate not playing with lego for a long day full of boringness.
Fortunately my parents would come in and get me whatever I wanted in the house.
Unfortunately my parents only came in every hour so I feared monsters would kill me.
Fortunately that gave me time to fall asleep and go to dream land.
Unfortunately my sisters kept making bathroom noises.
Fortunately my mum told them to be quiet with a loud voice that could have made my ears blow up.
Unfortunately one of my sister’s wouldn’t be quiet and kept being horrible.
Fortunately my sisters went to the movie.
Unfortunately  my dad went to the movies but not my mum, a noisy complainer.
Fortunately I got to sleep because aliens made me.
Unfortunately my sisters woke me up with tamborines.
Fortunately I got 2 hours sleep.
Unfortunately dinner was then and I got so hungry I couldn’t eat because a sticky machine would come and attack me if I did.
Fortunately I felt a bit better because I got to watch T.V and a anti-sickness machine made me feel better.

It was the holidays and mum took us to the beach ..
Fortunately it was a sunny day.
Unfortunately mum forgot her purse.
Fortunately she had her phone and called dad.
Unfortunately dad said he can drop the purse at 2 o'clock.
Fortunately mum saw her friend and asked: “can you buy my family food?”
Unfortunately Burger King was closed.
Fortunately we saw a ride we wanted to go on.
Unfortunately the ride was broken.
Fortunately we went for a swim.
Unfortunately we went home.
Fortunately dad bought me a basket ball.
Unfortunately we were tired.
Fortunately we had fun.
Unfortunately mum said we need to go to bed.
Fortunately dad said we can play in our room.
Unfortunately we started fighting.
Fortunately our mum and dad did not hear us.
Unfortunately someone started crying.
Fortunately mum arrived with drinks.
Unfortunately we had to go to bed.
WOW WHAT A FUNNY MIXED UP DAY!!!
